Ice Bear (00:34)
explode everywhere despite the pre the pre show knockover
It's interesting that you were giving yours a heavy snorf because my first one today is a little something called Scratch and Sniff.
Grizz (00:55)
I like that.
Ice Bear (00:57)
this happy little dog riding its tricycle. This is a strawberries and cream IPA. Scratch and sniff is blooming with real strawberry puree and creamy lactose. This berry blush IPA is sweet as summer, sigh and frisky and playful as a puppy. Obviously it needs its own cute franchise with a trapper keeper and aromatic stickers.
Grizz (01:01)
you
freaking love that. scratch-ass stiff snickers are so fucking cool. Do you remember the scratch-ass, like the smelling markers?
Ice Bear (01:23)
Me too.
They really were.
Absolutely I do. They were on sale at my school store for like a dollar each and the kids went wild.
Grizz (01:36)
So
the grape ones, even though artificial grapes hit and miss, but the artificial grapes smell on the scratchers, stickers, and markers, top tier.
Ice Bear (01:47)
Agreed.
Grizz (01:49)
So I'm going to get to go jump straight into mine because, ⁓ I'm a site. You see who this is right here? You see who that is? This is right here from the old Martin house. You know, I'm just going to go off with the name first because usually I try to do the buildup, but this is called a lot, a lot of mango nada.
Ice Bear (01:59)
Looks like old Martin house to me.
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (02:18)
This is a mango sour with tahini and chamoy.
Ice Bear (02:23)
I bet that's going to be great.
Grizz (02:25)
It's an 8 % right? Yeah, 8%. This is 8%. Alada Manganada.
Ice Bear (02:32)
The missing teeth is just...
Chef's kiss.
Grizz (02:40)
This one here.
Ice Bear (02:42)
that looks very good.
Grizz (02:46)
I feel like I'm about to eat a sour candy.
Ice Bear (02:49)
Also before you and the masses start judging, yes, there is ice in this. We dealt with a little power outage and I will take a cold IPA with ice any day.
Grizz (03:04)
I'll have to try it. It's still kind of scares me.
Ice Bear (03:07)
I understand the reluctance. I was very scared the first time I tried it, but it's fine.
It really is. The only thing I think I wouldn't do it in is like a stout or something extra creamy. I don't think I'd fuck with that.
Grizz (03:23)
Anything like lactose or just staphs in particular?
Ice Bear (03:26)
Just because of how thick they are, feel like the ice cubes would wind up getting that like coating. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Grizz (03:31)
film.
Ice Bear (03:39)
Well.
Grizz (03:43)
Here's a, so if I actually, first off.
mango smell smells like mangoes and not artificial mangoes it smells like real mangoes so that's very interesting
I am getting a little bit of spice, which is really, really nice at the end of this, like the tahini spice.
Ice Bear (04:13)
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (04:15)
so that's really good. don't, I getting a lot of the chamoy? But it's not straight mango, so I'm assuming that's the chamoy flavor mixing into it. But I am getting a lot of tahini and mango in it, so it's actually really good.
Ice Bear (04:24)
There you go.
very nice. This is bicycle forward. can kind of smell the puppy on the back end.
Grizz (04:40)
The puppy's back end.
Ice Bear (04:41)
Yeah, both. Yeah, the bike, the puppy's back end, all of it. ⁓ You actually do get a heavy dose of strawberry. Like it's a nice fragrance for sure. And it's a very, very easy drinker, but it's a six, so that's not surprising.
Grizz (04:59)
That's good. So you said that came from ⁓ like a club pack, right? Or what was the kind of flying monkeys?
Ice Bear (05:06)
Yeah, they have
a little summer seasonal little diddly boy.
Grizz (05:14)
Are they all Ipahs or are they just all... Nice.
Ice Bear (05:16)
every one of them's NEPA.
Yeah. The one that did not make today's episode cut is kind of a sassy cat. It reminds me of that thing from The Simpsons that's always getting in the fights and its eyes, yeah, itchy and scratchy. Yeah, whichever one the cat is. It looks kind of like that.
Grizz (05:30)
itching, itching and scratching.
I don't know which one is which.
Ice Bear (05:39)
What same psychedelic color scheme as the other cans? I would guess the cat, Scratchy? Like, why would a mouse be scratchy?
Grizz (05:43)
Thank you.
huh. That's actually really fair.
Ice Bear (05:50)
but I'm basing that on
nothing.
Grizz (05:54)
So operated error here. My regular bottle tahini, don't know what happened to it. So I have tahini twist. ⁓
Ice Bear (06:04)
⁓ I've never had that. What's the twist? What are they twisting it with?
Grizz (06:08)
So this one's sweet and spicy.
Ice Bear (06:14)
probably love it. Speaking of tahin, I did try the watermelon in tahin this past week.
Grizz (06:21)
So.
Ice Bear (06:23)
It's quite good. I like it a lot.
⁓ My favorite part was I also had ⁓ a coworker try it and just absolutely hated it.
Grizz (06:33)
⁓ yeah, that's funny.
Ice Bear (06:35)
And I think it was primarily a texture thing. Like, it's so sandy.
Grizz (06:42)
That's part of the part that's part of like the I don't know. I love the grid on it.
Ice Bear (06:47)
So do I. It's like sandpaper. Like a gentle grade sandpaper.
Grizz (06:52)
because you put the tahini on the watermelon and then the tahini part needs to touch your tongue when you bite it.
Ice Bear (06:58)
Yeah,
the way that I also started doing it was I'd take the little cut up bits and I'd put it in a bottle and put the teen on top and then shake it around like a McDonald's salad shaker.
Grizz (07:07)
Mmm.
I forgot about this.
Ice Bear (07:12)
So
they got really coded. ⁓
Grizz (07:15)
⁓ I'm talking about a whole ass crust like a fried chicken crust skin. I'm just going all over that.
Ice Bear (07:23)
You would, absolute maniac.
Grizz (07:26)
It's delicious.
Ice Bear (07:30)
Now the thing that I still need to do is do the half watermelon and scoop it out like a bowl like you were saying.
yet to do that.
Grizz (07:42)
You can also do it with a cantaloupe or a melon, like a honeydew. But the watermelon's the way to go.
Ice Bear (07:50)
I still to this day, I'm not sure which one of them I know I like one of them. And the other one is mid. Like if I ever see one of those fruit salads with both I'm like, one of these is gonna be great. The other one I'm gonna be kind of disappointed.
Grizz (07:56)
Yeah.
you
The issue is like with the cantaloupe there's different types and some of them are fucking awesome and the other ones are basic as shit.
Ice Bear (08:18)
Sadly, my fruit knowledge is lackluster and I just don't know.
Grizz (08:25)
That's fair.
Ice Bear (08:26)
Yeah. So I couldn't help notice your hat there, how those there rangers doing lately.
Grizz (08:37)
very mid but they ⁓ it's been back and forth man like
literally day by day I mean they're like excited or like they haven't they haven't been destroying anybody really like I mean they've had some good wins like they had a couple like couple days ago you know like a blowout but like
It's like, let's see, like today, the way the Astros, they're in middle of the thing with the Astros. Today. What was it?
Betsy today.
Ice Bear (09:17)
As you're looking that up, I wanted to bully you because the Jays were on a bit of a tear, but last night they lost right. And then and then today they're getting worked. So it was a bad, bad time to bring up baseball. So I thought we'd both revel in our sorrows.
Grizz (09:23)
Mm hmm.
Yeah, like currently, so like, um, yeah, it's just today. So they, guess the Rangers did win. Yeah. So the Rangers won today, five to one against the Astros. Right. But, like right now they are 48 and 49.
Ice Bear (09:50)
right there they're still in contention they can turn it around plenty games left half the season
Grizz (09:58)
Yeah, we'll see. What's the J's at?
Ice Bear (10:01)
⁓
I think 55 and 39, something like that. Maybe 55 and 40 now.
Grizz (10:08)
You see, you see if that was where the Rangers would be standing, I'd be like, you let's still got a shot. Right now I'm like, ⁓ damn boys. And DeGrom's back too. You know what I mean? Like, and he's been back for a minute. So it's like.
Ice Bear (10:26)
underachieving. Yeah, that's always upsetting. Well, the one of the nice things about baseball is how fucking long it is. So you don't really have to give up hope until like, mid August is when you can kind of pack it in.
Grizz (10:27)
Yeah.
So two weeks, or like a month, a month.
Ice Bear (10:43)
Yeah, don't don't don't bully your team base baseball's
got fucking 60 games between now and then with their with their double headers in the summer
Grizz (10:51)
That's They're
gonna turn it around, I believe.
I've watched Friday Night Lights. I know what happens.
Ice Bear (10:57)
B-Believe it.
Wait, hold on, is there a different Friday Night Lights? Because the one I'm thinking of is high school football.
Grizz (11:06)
You
Yeah,
or any given Sunday
Ice Bear (11:16)
Honestly, Friday Night Lights is a fantastic fucking show.
Grizz (11:20)
I was just sure I thought it was a movie. Oh shit. It wasn't FX, right? You think you're right.
Ice Bear (11:23)
⁓ it's,
it's a really long show. Clear Eyes, Full Hearts Can't Lose. I watched it all.
Grizz (11:29)
You know, you can say whatever you want, but the best one was Remember the Titans.
Ice Bear (11:37)
Man, I don't know. And I love that movie, but I would put if you're like a football purist and like the feeling you get from that, particularly like high school or college ball. Friday Night Lights is up there.
Grizz (11:48)
Mmm.
Probably not as good.
Ice Bear (11:54)
It gets little preachy towards, not preachy, that's the wrong word, but a little contrived, almost more soap opera-y towards the end. But the first season was...
phenomenal.
Grizz (12:06)
This entire time I thought it was a movie. I think I was mistaking any given Sunday for Friday Night Lights. Yeah. Yeah, OK. I thought it was a movie. So I'm pretty sure I was thinking of any given Sunday.
Ice Bear (12:13)
That seems right. Because it's a four season show. ⁓
Is this like when you mixed up, what do call it? What's the one with De Niro? The Godfather Part 2? And I believe you mixed that up with Schindler's List. Is this like that?
Grizz (12:37)
It's the same thing.
Ice Bear (12:43)
Well, we made it this far. The recording just cuts out on its own.
Grizz (12:44)
Yeah
You know?
Zionist goddess.
Ice Bear (12:56)
Wop wop wop wop
Grizz (12:59)
To be fair friggin
Did ever watch the Irishman?
Ice Bear (13:06)
I don't know if I have.
Grizz (13:07)
It's like,
yes, it was like it came out. think it's just a Netflix movie came out like that's long ago. But it was like De Niro's comeback, like kind of like in the crime movie kind of things.
Ice Bear (13:17)
you
know what? I remember seeing this because I feel like it got really high Rotten Tomatoes scores and I wanted to like it because isn't it isn't that the one hold on let me look it up. Is this the Scorsese one?
Grizz (13:30)
It's it was kind of like the comeback to the old 90s, you know, mob movies and stuff. Yeah. Yeah.
Ice Bear (13:37)
Yeah, this is the Scorsese one. So yeah, I
remember starting it and I saw like three and a half hours and I was like, I don't have that kind of investment, man. Can't do it. My attention span is too.
Grizz (13:52)
I...
It's not a bad movie. think it's more of a... It is a good movie, I think.
Ice Bear (14:01)
Do I do it? Do I watch it?
Grizz (14:03)
Here's the thing though. Because you think think of like the old mob movies and stuff like a lot of them are slow burns. But it kind of gives you things where it kind of keeps you on the line. And I feel like this one didn't have those as much. And so like although it is good and the acting is good, I kind of feel like it overstates its welcome a little bit. Like you feel the three and half hours.
Ice Bear (14:31)
Okay, yeah, I feel like that is exactly how I would be. I'd get maybe an hour in and I'd be like, this is dragging already.
Grizz (14:32)
You know, and.
Yeah, and the thing is like, cause you think of movies like casino and stuff like
Ice Bear (14:44)
Casino is my favorite all-time mob movie. Buy a lot.
Grizz (14:46)
Yeah, think, because
you know, it's number two for me.
Ice Bear (14:51)
What's number one?
Grizz (14:54)
Contrary to what's what's usually people's favorite mom movie outside of the Godfather
Ice Bear (14:59)
I swear to God if you say Scarface, I'm going to kill myself.
Grizz (15:02)
No, no, no, no. I'm actually not a huge fan of Scarface. I don't think it's the only thing. The only funny thing is when the friend gets turned rejected at a poll and he's like, lesbian. So he says it cracks me up. But outside of that, like there's cool moments, I can't.
Ice Bear (15:05)
I don't like it either.
It...
Grizz (15:29)
I've seen all of Starface because I've watched parts of it every single time. Every single time I'm trying to sit through the movie, like, I don't know. I don't think I'm just a huge Al Pacino fan or something. Because even though he's cool, but it's just like, I don't know. It just doesn't do it for me.
Ice Bear (15:47)
Yeah, I'm in a very similar boat. I think my biggest grievance with it is that movie has five good meme-able scenes and the rest of it is trash.
Grizz (16:01)
I agree with that. What's the?
Is there like a part two or like some like prequel thing or something like didn't they do like some type of continuation stupid shit? Like I don't know if it's like a part two or something, but where they've tried to like call back to it.
Ice Bear (16:16)
Not that I'm aware of.
It wouldn't surprise me, but not that I'm aware of. I'll investigate what we're thinking about this Scarface sequel.
Grizz (16:24)
I may be completely wrong.
I don't know if it is. ⁓
Ice Bear (16:31)
Scarface 2 cancelled.
Grizz (16:33)
Okay, okay.
Ice Bear (16:37)
In the early 2000s there was a proposed title called Son of Tony. 2014 film titled Son of Scarface. But not a direct sequel to the film instead it followed a character named Robbie who's believed Al Pacino was his father. Okay so yeah there is one. Son of Scarface. A reboot of it has been in development for over a decade.
Grizz (17:02)
They're saying every coming out
Ice Bear (17:04)
Yeah, no, that's never gonna happen. And it doesn't need to happen. They really need to chill with the reboots in general.
That is my opinion.
Grizz (17:18)
Yeah, you
know what I always put I just I just double checked what I was thinking I know because again people connected to it instead of was connected to it But I guess it's more of just stylistically as opposed to you thing, but I guess it's opportunity. There's a Carlitos way And people always like put it to scarface I think that's what I was with that well, I think that's what I was conflating So you know, so it was actually good though
Ice Bear (17:36)
Mm.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's
not bad.
Grizz (17:48)
this is a one no but my favorite my favorite mom movie is good fellows
Ice Bear (17:50)
Mm-hmm.
Oh, oh, I'm a fool. I forgot about that. That is the best. No. Yeah, you're 100 % right. It's good fellas. I forgot that was around. I don't know how that escaped my mind. But that is absolutely the best far and away.
Grizz (17:58)
Yeah, yeah, I absolutely love good fellas.
Yeah, like, like, so just the scenes like the one of the very, very beginning, like when he's a little kid and they're fucking smashing the windows and like, fucking Molotov cocktailing shit. And then like, what, and then when he's kind of like getting into like getting into the scene and he comes, he comes out in the fucking suit with the mom, she's like, you look like a gangster. You know what mean? Like, it's just that like,
And then when they're in prison and they're all like cooking and shit and homies cutting the tomatoes razor thin with a fucking razor like or would he just beats the shit out of the fucking boathouse dude with the with the pistol and then wipes up and puts it in the the for what do call it the little water pump thing. Yeah, there's just so much scenes in there that are just iconic and you
Ice Bear (19:04)
Did anyone ever have as good a run as Pesci in the early 90s?
Grizz (19:10)
Thank
Because Pesci in the 90s, he kind of just encompassed everything. He was the quintessential mob guy in like all the mob movies. He was in comedy movies. He was in
Ice Bear (19:25)
But like,
that's what I'm thinking. Like the range though, cause you, Goodfellas, you have our, our favorite, my cousin Vinny, Home Alone. Those are, those are all very different vibes and every one of them is fantastic and incredibly rewatchable.
Grizz (19:31)
Yep. Yeah.
I think I'm gonna start scanning that Joe Pesci was the greatest actor alive.
Ice Bear (19:49)
Man, wouldn't immediately reject the argument.
Grizz (19:54)
Cause in home alone, my cousin Vinny, the youths just don't know what Joe Pesci was.
me look at this actually. Damn, Joe Pesci is 82 years old.
Ice Bear (20:11)
I don't like that at all. means he's not with us much longer. That's upsetting.
Grizz (20:16)
I he was actually would be like, cause I usually don't give a fuck when like celebrities die. But I think Joe Pesci would be one that I would actually be sad about. Yeah. Like
Ice Bear (20:25)
I think I might be too.
And the seal and I talk about that all the time, like which celebrities would... And normally it's where like our gut instinct is just a solid no across the board. But there's a few that I think if it actually happens, I might. And that is one of them.
Grizz (20:44)
I think Joe Pesci, think even frickin Danny Givito would be a little sad about. I think I'd be like, I'd be like, oh, you know.
Ice Bear (20:49)
I wouldn't care about that at all. what,
hold on, what do you like Devito in? Twins.
Grizz (20:56)
⁓
Matilda and then ⁓ honestly
Ice Bear (21:03)
Batman
returns.
Grizz (21:06)
⁓ honestly, honestly, it's always sunny in Philadelphia made like brought DeVito all the way back and like made him iconic.
Ice Bear (21:09)
It's always sunny.
Grizz (21:22)
It's hard to hate Frank and not like not be unbiased or Danny DeVito and not love Danny DeVito if you just watch season three. If you just watch a handful of episodes from it's always sunny.
Ice Bear (21:39)
I think I do need to watch it because you always tell me to watch it. My brother-in-law constantly tells me to watch it.
Grizz (21:47)
It's literally right up your alley. there's no, it's, it's the perfect amount of like ridiculousness and seriousness. It's, it's like, cause you, so, know, like the, pitch for Seinfeld for people is that they're all just bad people. Like they're not all good people, right? That they're just all like, they're all kind of just flawed people. That's, it's always something in Philadelphia, but they're also unhinged.
Ice Bear (22:04)
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (22:13)
But they're all unhinged to a normal person, but they make logical sense within the character. And that's what makes them great. Is that they flesh out the character. Yeah, especially because you know the character and you know them and you know the way they think. And so because of that, you're like, see why they did that.
Ice Bear (22:13)
you
interesting.
Like you can wrap your head around the actions.
Well, how was your first one?
Grizz (22:41)
The first one is, who is this?
Ice Bear (22:48)
I went to sippy town.
Grizz (22:54)
A lot of mango is actually really good.
I'm giving this. ⁓
I'm going to give it an A-.
Ice Bear (23:08)
What a coinkled ink because let me tell you I scratching I was sniffing
This is an A minus. Flying Monkeys is just, anytime I see their logo on something, I'm like, well, it's at least good and possibly great and possibly amazing. But they've never let me down yet.
Grizz (23:19)
Are you mind?
know, flying monkeys, I'm actually, it's one of the breweries I'm very excited about in general.
Ice Bear (23:38)
Yeah, that's, you know, when we talk about the Gorilla head mic things, like that's one of the ones that'll be a mecha pilgrimage.
Grizz (23:45)
Mm-hmm.
Ice Bear (23:53)
particularly because I showed you the board in the brewery, Of the pints that are like $5 and the pitchers that are like 12, 14, 15.
Grizz (23:53)
What's going to be going?
You're
absolutely wild. My dad would spend my dad would spend friggin more money on a pitcher of Bud Light at Peter Piper's pizza.
Ice Bear (24:07)
All right.
upsetting. ⁓ Okay, my next one I'm super excited and I know you're gonna love it so you do yours first. Like I'm not confident that this is the this is the apex beer of the episode.
Grizz (24:24)
No.
⁓ all right. This one here. Here's the issue with this one. I am very, very, very excited about this one because this is a continuation of one I've had before. ⁓ this is a variant. It's basically it's a shiny, right?
I just don't know if I've had it on Tubi Tubi or prior. Maybe it's been on Tubi Tubi, I don't know.
you will recognize it because it's the same exact art but just different color variant. This is the almighty celestial beer works right the almighty celestial beer works.
Ice Bear (25:10)
⁓
Grizz (25:15)
As you can see, this art is familiar because it was the same art. It's the rabbits and the rams, but they were blue before.
Ice Bear (25:21)
Yeah.
I was going to say yes. And you did have that on this. I think it was like maybe six or seven.
Grizz (25:26)
Okay.
This right here, because that one's called Triple Stars, this right here is Tangerine Triple Stars.
Ice Bear (25:36)
⁓
I bet it's going to be good.
Grizz (25:38)
So this is a triple hazy EPA with Strata like Citra, my favorite, and Vic Secret, not bad, hops, and it's packed with fresh tangerine. So it's just the three stars, which was a great EPA with tangerines. This is a 9.2.
Ice Bear (26:06)
excited for you that sounds excellent so that is it's making me feel a little bad for about being so cocky about this next one because I think that is a great beer but I still stand by what I said so much so that if I were wearing socks they'd be knocked off right now so instead I will knock off my hat
And let me tell you, what's coming up is it's you, beloved Graze.
and you're drinking your beer out of a fucking fire hose. This is a gusher tropical planchipa.
Grizz (26:47)
that it I flying monkeys just does like the crazy like psychedelic frick it's not even psychedelic I don't even know what it is it's like LSD art great
Ice Bear (26:58)
Yes, it's
that it's LSD art. So this is gusher tropical punchy kabloosh bursting with super delic passion fruit pineapple and guava. These tropical hops overflow with a fresh summer punch that screams to be outside outside of what outside of the hose in the mouth of a bear.
Grizz (27:09)
⁓
Beautiful
I I think yeah, you you take the cake on that one. That's for sure. Think I think this tangerine triple stars and This is all bear gushers. We need I'm gonna do this three two one
my
this the tangerine it's like almost tangerine oil like like the kind of like when you squeeze a tangerine or you squeeze any citrus fruit and like the oil from the rind pops out that smell hit and then like the dankiness of this that's a good color
Ice Bear (28:11)
I'm gonna give it a whifferino.
Grizz (28:19)
my Lord. You ready for this one?
Ice Bear (28:22)
I'm ready.
You stop. You shut your whore mouth right now.
Grizz (28:28)
for a citrus fruited Ipa this shit does I'm telling you my look this smells like
Ice Bear (28:38)
I think I'm going
to leave my Charlie Chaplin stash while you describe this.
Grizz (28:43)
This smells like a danki fresh squeezed orange juice
Like it's insane how much they come out.
Ice Bear (29:04)
Did they do it?
or your socks on.
Grizz (29:13)
consider them. ⁓ dang it, didn't catch in the camera. Nope.
Ice Bear (29:22)
I can't believe I nearly tricked you to exposing your weird little toes to the world.
Grizz (29:26)
no, that one's... there you go. Off.
that the the snossage stays a secret ain't nope not much not many people know my god so the smell dank-ass fresh squeezed orange juice
Ice Bear (29:50)
That's awesome.
Grizz (29:52)
Like it's really good when people have the weeds and it's a good quality and you're like, I can tell this smells like really good weed, whether I like it or not. It's that smell with fresh squeezed orange juice.
Ice Bear (29:57)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
⁓ very interesting.
Grizz (30:08)
Yeah, like it's.
Ice Bear (30:12)
I'm sure I would like the beer, but I think I would hate that smell. Cause I don't like the smell of weed. Like at all.
Grizz (30:21)
I'm kind of impartial to it. it's like, because it's smell a weed, it's of like it's pungent. But then when you have like really, really good like nugs that look all crystal and crazy, and then you're like somebody opens the box that they're in and you can smell it you're like, okay, I can tell this is really, really good stuff.
Ice Bear (30:39)
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (30:47)
I don't smoke it really, I can see that and can smell it from you opening the box five feet away. And I can tell that it's a difference between a cigarillo and a black and mild and a hand-rolled cigar.
Ice Bear (31:08)
not gonna lie, I fuck with the black and mild. I like them.
Grizz (31:12)
I don't... Look. ⁓
might be outing myself as a little hood rat, but the wine, the wood tip wine, black and miles, like, yeah, they don't miss.
Ice Bear (31:27)
100%, that's exactly where I was going with it.
And there's also there's
also something satisfying about being able to like pop in a 7-eleven at 2am and be like, give me one of those. Like just just one. You don't need the pack. I love anything you can buy as a Lucy.
Grizz (31:41)
It's true.
That's true. Because there's not much nowadays.
Ice Bear (31:52)
I haven't had one in years. don't even because the thing about here that makes it easy to never smoke anything is they're always like.
out of sight, like they have like little walls over the cigarettes. like, unlike walking like back home in Maryland, like if you walk into a 7-eleven, there's a big like clear display case of all the cigarettes. Here they're behind like a black wall and they have like all the weird diseases you can get from smoking cigarettes. So it's just like someone with like fucking mouth cancer. Maybe not.
Grizz (32:16)
yeah.
Yeah, but yeah. I don't know.
Ice Bear (32:27)
Have I told the mouth cancer story on this podcast yet? Do I gross everyone out? Okay. So my grandfather in his later years, he had developed mouth cancer due to pipe smoking for many a moon. was out being a grand bear, puffing on pipe smoke. And so he, yes, exactly like that. Correct, sir. And so he got a mouth cancer.
Grizz (32:27)
I asked.
Nope, let's do it.
Ice Bear (32:57)
And what they did is they removed a big patch of his cheek and they replaced that with skin from his elbow, his elbow. I was far away from the mic. So one of my early childhood memories is him eating this weird fucking toast with fig jam on it and dunking it in chocolate milk, which is an insane unhinged thing to do. But it was his breakfast. That's what he did. It's his choice. Good for him. And then pulling a hair out of his mouth because the arm pit, the arm.
elbow skin grew hair inside his mouth because it doesn't stop being elbow skin so he would always be like yeah so stop smoking pipe shit you dingus you don't want mouth hair
You're like, I like pipes.
Grizz (33:46)
Good thing I
smoke cigars. Yeah, yeah.
Ice Bear (33:50)
Yeah, they're fine. No difference.
I really want a pipe exactly like that, but I want a bubble pipe. Bubble pipes are the best gimmick of all time.
Grizz (34:00)
I'm
They're cool. I got this because a customer gave me a sweet ass nug as a tip at work. And so I had it forever. And then the tiger's like, so I was like, all right, let me see. I order a pipe. What's the most unassuming pipe I can have? I can't have a weeds pipe.
Ice Bear (34:18)
Interesting.
Grizz (34:34)
because everyone knows what is, I'm going to get a foxy grandpa. So I got myself a foxy grandpa.
Ice Bear (34:40)
Hold on, brief aside, is that the brand or is that you just describing that pipe as something for a foxy grandpa?
Grizz (34:47)
Yeah, it's a name with a Foxy Grandpa.
Ice Bear (34:51)
That's what they call it. That's what you call it.
Grizz (34:53)
No, I named it the Foxy Grandpa.
Yeah, this is the Foxy Grandpa.
Ice Bear (34:57)
Good for you, man. That's good branding. That 100 % deserves that. Well done, sir. Well done.
Grizz (35:09)
some good stuff. I mean, it's one of those things where like, I just like cigars. pipes are cool, though. So I'm like, the thing with the pipe though, because it's a loose tobacco, I feel like I would smoke more with it.
Ice Bear (35:18)
They are.
Me too, probably.
Grizz (35:28)
So like that's why I'm like, nah, so our guys are like, because I need because like, okay, I do have the cigarette, the cigarette, it's like the cigars like the small ones. Like the Davidoff I have right. And so that like a three to five minutes smoke, something or whatever, like, so I have those. And then like when I travel and stuff like that, and I want to, I got those. ⁓ But typically, there's like cigars. ⁓
Ice Bear (35:39)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (35:57)
I used to go to Cigar Lounge every week and I would have one a week, maybe one and a half. I used to get like a little, a little last call or something. Um, with the tiger, cause the tiger's fairly, she's not a straight edge, but she's like straight edge light, you know? So like my weekly cigar turned to monthly cigars, right? And sometimes I even skip months, you know?
Ice Bear (36:01)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
You dog you.
Grizz (36:29)
yeah but the thing with cigar though is that you have to like settle set like an hour to two hour and a half two hours of time block to smoke the cigar and it's very nice and it's very like meditative and it's amazing because it kind of puts you into this routine of like doing something and you kind of like intrinsically do it every minute to minute and a half so it puts you into like this meditative state basically and you relax
Ice Bear (36:43)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (36:59)
have a glass of whiskey or an IPA, depending what kind of cigar you have, you know, a glass of wine or whatever you want. And it's, it's great. But the thing is like, since you have to allot that amount of time, you have to be intentional with it. So therefore like you. I genuinely just limited my smoke as opposed to I feel like with a pipe, like, like if I
Ice Bear (37:01)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (37:24)
regular use old Foxy grandpa over there. You're just doing a little bit of time and before you know it, you know,
Ice Bear (37:30)
There's something about it that is almost intrinsically elegant. It just looks sophisticated. Like you could have a suit on and no one's going to question.
Grizz (37:36)
That's true though. It does.
It's true, it's like the doctors smoked back in like the 50s or 60s. That's good.
Ice Bear (37:46)
Right? Mm-hmm.
Yeah. You know what else is nice for putting in a meditative state that I haven't done in a long time, but used to love? Hookah.
Grizz (38:02)
hookah's dope hookah like communally like it's also like the nicotine rushes on hookah stuff like even if you're just doing regular like you know like that should get crazy
Ice Bear (38:09)
Mm-hmm.
Have I ever told you about the experimenting we did with like the bass?
Grizz (38:19)
a little bit but I think I don't think you've said it on the podcast I think that's worth saying because it was really really cool
Ice Bear (38:25)
So yeah, here's the pro tip. Rather than just doing water in the base, you can do vodka and particularly flavored vodka because that will translate into the smoke. And you get like a really thick like because one of my favorite things about hookah is the, know, like blowing it out and doing the shapes and the tricks with the smoke. But you will get a very thick, very flavorful smoke when you mix it with any sort of liquor.
Grizz (38:46)
Yeah.
Ice Bear (38:55)
And it's also kind of ⁓ not quite a crossfade, but crossfade adjacent. You do get a little bit of a buzz off it in addition to the nicotine rush.
Grizz (39:05)
Yeah.
Ice Bear (39:08)
It was fun.
Grizz (39:10)
It's cool because like the only one of the I had like hookah stuff I had a buddy named Leith that he would go to all our shows and so because he'd go to all our shows and supporters like you know we ended up at like the house parties you know together and he'd he'd bring he'd bring his hookah and so there'd be you know three or four of us at a table all kind of just shooting this shooting drinking just like passing the hookah thing back and forth fucking awesome
Ice Bear (39:37)
and
Grizz (39:41)
Like after that, after that, I realized like after that, I'm like, I know I hook along just exists now.
Ice Bear (39:42)
That's a good time.
Yeah, and particularly like the nice lounges you can one, they will also do rather than like the glass base, they'll do fruit like you'll do a pineapple or something, which is also a lot of fun. Yeah, you can use a pineapple as like the vessel, which is really fun. Like that gives it a nice flavor as well. you do like, ⁓ if you said did say in a pineapple, like a pineapple vodka and then like maybe a coconut chicha.
Grizz (40:00)
Interesting.
Ice Bear (40:18)
That'd be fantastic. That'd be really, really good. So those are always options. But the other thing I always liked is if you're doing the traditional, like actual hookahs, the ones with the three hoses that spin.
That's always really fun. Because yeah, like you said, it is very meditative. There's a quality about just the repetition and you can have a very relaxing, fun, casual conversation. It's a good time.
Grizz (40:50)
Yeah, the whole meditative thing is because I tried to explain to the tiger like why I like cigars. I like why I like things and to somebody that's never really like smoke them. It's hard to be like, it's like meditating, you know what I mean? And it not to sound like a cope for like, you know what I mean? For like a vice, but it really is because it forces you into this rhythm.
Ice Bear (41:00)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (41:20)
right until like and before you know you're kind of just into this rhythm and like you're not thinking about it
Ice Bear (41:30)
Well, yeah, that's like from a mindfulness perspective. The other thing is you're probably concentrating on. let's say you, and you pass and then you kind of like either very actively or like on the back burner, like paying attention to your next time around and like focusing on that next like, there's going to be a little pleasant dopamine rush and just waiting for it. And that, that patience is almost part of the process. Like, all right, I wait.
Reward, wait, reward. So there's definitely something fun to it.
Grizz (42:03)
Yeah.
it's good stuff man like hook is cool cuz it's and I do like that anything that's kind of a cute that's can be like a communal experiences really really really cool
Ice Bear (42:13)
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
You know what we were talking about the other day, speaking of communal activities? Bow and arrow. Archery, like at the axe throwing places, doing some archery too. I feel like that would be a lot of fun.
Grizz (42:40)
would really really I don't think they'd be awesome. I think I'd be terrible at it though
Ice Bear (42:46)
No. No, no, no, no, no.
Grizz (42:49)
I think I feel like the learning curve is pretty high.
Ice Bear (42:53)
Are you good at shooting? You'd be fine. I don't think it's that difficult a translation.
Grizz (42:55)
Pretty good.
Ice Bear (43:03)
I really don't.
I think the main thing is because like you have to pay attention to your breath, right? And so like once you've achieved that still, then it's just aim. And if you're good at shooting, already have that. Like you would would you would within probably five arrows figure it out.
Grizz (43:29)
It's not super fun because I know the tiger likes it. She's actually good at it.
Ice Bear (43:33)
Mm-hmm.
One thing that I would really want if I ever really got invested in it, I'd want to get so good I get those cool like lip scars like the people. It's my favorite thing about the people that are really good at like, what is that mark? then, yeah, someone was like, that's from the fucking line. just snaps them every time.
Grizz (43:46)
yeah.
It is cool though, like, kinda like, it's like the Archer cauliflower ear.
Ice Bear (44:07)
Yes, that's exactly what it is. 100%. Yes, that it's way cooler.
Grizz (44:12)
Yeah, cause cauliflower looks fucking gross.
Ice Bear (44:14)
It does. You look deformed. Because you are.
Grizz (44:19)
You know what you look like?
You know what it looks like? And granted, you're way cooler than this person. But to me, you know what we're Sin City?
Ice Bear (44:32)
Yes, I do.
Grizz (44:33)
Remember the yellow guy that was after it was a Jessica Alba?
Ice Bear (44:37)
Yes, my god, he does have cauliflower hair.
Grizz (44:40)
That's what cauliflower ear is to me, is that yellow guy.
Ice Bear (44:44)
⁓ no. Now every time I see a cauliflower I'm gonna be like, you, you can only do it when people scream, you psychopath.
Grizz (44:55)
Also a cauliflower, I just wanna squeeze the shit out of it.
Ice Bear (44:58)
It looks like it's already popped.
Grizz (45:00)
Yeah.
Ice Bear (45:06)
Don't mess with them. absolutely don't try it.
Grizz (45:06)
But you know if somebody has it, they'll kill you. They'll kill you. They'll
kill you.
Ice Bear (45:15)
Nothing is a quicker visual representation than I have trained hundreds of hours than cauliflower here.
That's a bad look. It's a very bad look. ⁓ no, your nephew's coming in the room. ⁓ now he's shy. Now he's bashful.
Grizz (45:38)
He's a bashful boy. You know what? ⁓ it reminds me of, let me pull this up real quick. Cause you brought up just, ⁓ training for a lot of hours, right? And it brought up this and this video fucking cracks me the fuck up. Like it's the funniest.
Ice Bear (45:39)
He's a bashful little puppy.
Grizz (46:08)
Most relatable shit.
Is it funny that the most relatable shit like I see this shit and it cracks like I fucking die laughing. Let's see. Share the screen. Let's do the.
Ice Bear (46:29)
show and tell. Very nice.
Grizz (46:33)
Are you ready for this?
Ice Bear (46:35)
I'm ready.
Grizz (46:45)
Just one more hit.
Yeah
Ice Bear (46:54)
I've never had the urge to bite a callus off. I'll rip them off, but I've never wanted to bite them off. Of course, of course you do. You absolute maniac.
Grizz (46:57)
I'll buy those motherfuckers some more
I
often just...
Ice Bear (47:09)
How are yours looking these days? Mine are pretty minimal.
Grizz (47:12)
Mine are very minimal, it's actually pretty sad.
Yeah, mine are very minimal right now. I haven't necessarily been a...
Ice Bear (47:24)
No heavy deads.
Grizz (47:25)
Nope. I almost... ⁓
Ice Bear (47:27)
The
worst is when you're like loading up and you have a really heavy couple of weeks and you get this one. Like that, that callus is by far the worst. Those suck.
Grizz (47:33)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, that's
because you suck. Cause I usually get the main ones I get are here and then here. Those are usually the main, my main ones and I get small ones here. Yeah.
Ice Bear (47:48)
Mm-hmm. Yeah, like midfinger. Yeah.
Where the knurling gets you. Yep. Yep, that's very true. So let me tell you, in the effort of remaining slightly topical for one episode, we saw Superman opening night. What have you heard on your end about that? Have you heard any things about it?
Grizz (48:16)
Who is it? It's James Gunn, right? Yeah.
Ice Bear (48:18)
James Gunn directed it, yes, and
wrote it.
Grizz (48:22)
Yeah, so, ⁓ only two people I know that watched it were your, you and the story you posted about it. And then the coworker of mine and see, and here's the thing. This coworker though, it was really like the Jurassic park movie. And I was like,
Ice Bear (48:29)
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (48:43)
I haven't watched it, but my buddy said it fucking sucked. He's like what? No, didn't he? He's tripping. I was like, he said it was like shitty CGI. I was like, it wasn't that bad. And he was like, I don't know, man. I'm just saying what said. I can't tell you, right? But he came out and he was like, Superman? Fucking amazing. He's like, he's like James Gunn? Freaking doesn't, yeah, he was like.
Ice Bear (48:55)
you
good.
Okay, I'm very relieved.
Grizz (49:14)
Amazing fucking movie 10 out of 10 like He should do he he needs to do all of DC shit if he was DC DC wants to Take the reins of like the Marvel's crumbling You know DC wants to be the Phoenix's as James Gunn needs to direct all the movies
Ice Bear (49:29)
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, it was incredibly fun. for someone that was a comic book nerd growing up, for, again, my favorite superhero was Superman as a kid. And that was my first tattoo was the Superman crest. ⁓
Grizz (49:54)
Yeah.
Ice Bear (49:57)
It was really fun to see a version of him that, cause I don't get me wrong. I liked Henry Cavill a lot. thought those were good movies. I enjoyed them a ton.
Grizz (50:06)
he
he looks he makes a really good Superman. But but like so okay, granted, I didn't really watch a lot of off eclipse, I may be completely off base. The vibe I got from the Henry Cavill Superman was like omnipotent, like omnipotent, right? Like, frickin godlike, right? And so, which is there are renditions of Superman that are that
Ice Bear (50:10)
Yeah, 100%.
Yes. Yes.
Yes.
Grizz (50:33)
But that's
not like Superman, Superman, right? So like.
Ice Bear (50:36)
Yes, I agree. think
that's an accurate assessment. ⁓ And also it was a very, it was a darker tone. Like he killed spoilers 10 years later. He kills Zod at the end of it. Like he does some things that were, it's fine. Like it's a different take. And again, I didn't dislike it, but watching this one where it's very, you're just kind of inspired. Like that was my takeaway. I was just inspired to be.
a nicer person, like to watch out for people that can't watch out for themselves. that's why I loved it so much as a kid. And it was it blended a really good line of there were scenes that were really fucking funny. It was exciting. was good action. The CGI was good. And then it was also heartfelt. So I just I can't sing its praises enough. I thought it was absolutely outstanding. It exceeded every expectation I had for it.
Grizz (51:35)
Superman is never a character that I liked. Because I never really watched any Superman stuff outside of like in the Justice League.
Ice Bear (51:46)
Okay, so just as a brief aside, I understand that because he can come across as boring or unrelatable, both of which I think are reasonable gripes about it. ⁓ It was always my dad's favorite thing, so that's part of the reason why I think I like it. Just I absorbed it through whatever. And I remember a lot of the comics I was reading growing up, they had started to take on a darker tone.
Grizz (52:03)
Yeah, yeah.
Mm-hmm.
Ice Bear (52:13)
And his complaint was always like, why can't you just save a cat from a tree or put out a fire with super breath? Like he liked the really simple stuff. So there's a scene in this new one that I don't think this is a big spoiler, but he saves a squirrel. it's just, it's so like, it's just, it's one second. It's, but it just, it pays homage to the vibe of yesteryear. And it was so, was like, that was one of the times I got a little misty because like, fuck, my dad would have really liked that.
Grizz (52:20)
Yeah.
A callback. It's a callback.
Yeah, yeah. See, shit like that I love, like, like, when when it's established, like IP, shit like that's what I actually love, right? Like, respecting source material is paramount. And so like, if they do that, I think it's awesome.
Ice Bear (52:43)
So that was good.
Yeah, it
did a fantastic job of that. it was ⁓ have you ever seen like the originals with Christopher Reeve? Any of those?
Grizz (53:10)
I think those are the only ones I've seen. I didn't watch any of the ones with freaking the Witcher, right? Cavill, right? But I saw clips of it, but the only ones I saw when I was little were the Christopher Ray ones.
Ice Bear (53:17)
Okay.
Okay, so it was it was somewhere between that and like Guardians of the Galaxy because they did have a big cast and that was my other thing that I really enjoyed about it. Mr. Terrific was phenomenal and like I did not expect that character to steal the show the way he did but the best fight scene in the movie was Mr. Terrific in my opinion. It like the way they do his powers like
Grizz (53:48)
All right.
Ice Bear (53:51)
I don't know if you've ever played Overwatch or seen that, it reminded me of like Zenyatta and the music track they had going in the background was just pure vibes. felt like just like a day at the beach. was like lighting people up. It was so fun.
Grizz (53:56)
Okay.
Yeah.
That's cool. The only thing that kind of just like zaps me when I see it is I don't like the Superman logo in this new movie. Yeah.
Ice Bear (54:18)
Interesting. Just
the the S was a little wrong for you.
Grizz (54:22)
Yeah. Like, I don't know, just because they're always a little different, right? Like every single thing comes, oh, it's always, and that's fine. This one though was like, I don't know. It's just too curvy. I don't know why it just hits. Like when I see it, it looks wrong. Cause all the other ones I see it on my, it's a brim. But this one, when I saw it, I was like,
Ice Bear (54:28)
They are. They are, yeah.
Mm.
Mm-hmm.
It is different. and I, like, if I could pick, I would do the one that pops in my head. I would, would do the one that's on my wrist. Like I I would have that. But if you're a director and a writer, and you're trying to establish yourself as a, like, this is the start point of going forward. I understand wanting to have that low, cause there's several times, cause we saw it in IMAX.
Grizz (54:59)
Yeah.
Ice Bear (55:18)
where they do like a slow kind of zoom on it. And if you're trying to visually establish yourself as new, this is the divide, this is where we're starting fresh. I get it.
Grizz (55:26)
Yeah, mean, it's like all the spider.
Yeah, it's like all the Spider-Man suits. Like I totally get it. I get why they do it. And I totally understand it. Because even like, because even the. The Witcher, what the fuck is in Cavill? Like even his. His Superman logo is it wasn't exactly the same as the other ones, like they're all they're always all different, like even like the Spider-Man's everything's all different. So I get it. But like it's they're usually close enough to I'm like.
Ice Bear (55:40)
Henry.
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Grizz (55:55)
Yeah, yeah, but that one and again, it's such a small thing right to because it's like it's just the logo, right?
Ice Bear (55:55)
not taken out of it. Yeah.
the the the
one the one thing that I really liked about it because I do agree I I think if like if again if I could pick I would also change the logo but I forgive it because they they nailed the color palette that I want I like the bright red the bright yellow the bright blue like none of it's dark it's all very like fucking in your face and also his cape in this movie has like a almost felt like texture
Grizz (56:20)
Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
Ice Bear (56:32)
Which I didn't expect to like, but like having seen it, I really liked it. It was, it was a nice choice.
Grizz (56:41)
Yeah, I think it looks good because that gets me excited because like again, I never got really into Superman because 90s Batman kids, you know what I mean? Like, it's like apex of fucking the Batman cartoon. You know what mean? Like, so for me, superheroes, Batman, right? And so because James Gunn, he's he's doing a Batman movie, right?
Ice Bear (56:52)
Mm-hmm.
He's going to do ⁓ all of the big ones.
Grizz (57:10)
Yeah, because I think he's doing because I Batman the Batman 2
Ice Bear (57:13)
So the way they're introducing Batman is,
it's gonna, no, it's gonna be the brave and the bold. So the Batman 2 is ⁓ Matt Reeves thing. So that is considered an Elseworlds property. So it's not actually gonna be part of the whole DC universe.
Grizz (57:27)
⁓
Ice Bear (57:34)
Yes, Pattinson, yeah.
That's gonna be the official yes.
Well, the other thing
I really liked about it is he I was reading an interview he did where he was saying each character. The movies are going to take on their own tone, so this one was fun and lighthearted and a little bit campy, but like one of the first movies coming out is actually going to be Clayface. It's like a Batman villain. And so like that one's going to be dark. They're going to do lanterns, which he described as like true detective, but with green lanterns. So like there's going to be some different energy to each of the things.
Grizz (58:18)
Interesting. ⁓
Ice Bear (58:20)
which I'm really looking forward to because it's like, not every hero has to be the same energy. Yeah, I don't want Batman to be the same as Superman. They're very different. They shouldn't be.
Grizz (58:28)
Agreed.
Yeah.
Ice Bear (58:35)
So I'm looking forward to whatever he does next, because yeah, I absolutely loved it. I think we're probably going to see it again at some point.
Grizz (58:43)
Yeah, it makes me want to watch it.
Ice Bear (58:49)
Yeah, I definitely recommend it. And it's not for for one of these big like franchise property. It's not that long. It's almost exactly two hours. So it's not like three hours for end game. You're not committing to anything crazy.
Grizz (59:05)
I wonder, ⁓ so, that's definitely appealing, especially with like the long ass movies like how we're talking about the Irishmen and stuff, but ⁓ the lanterns are what's gonna be interesting. Do you think the lanterns, are they going to do, do you think, are they gonna be just like random people? it gonna be like Alan Scott or like John Stewart kind of thing?
Ice Bear (59:29)
So it's going to be, um, shit, it's John Stewart and, oh man, Kyle or no, Gar. I don't remember, but it's two, but it's a show. So they're going to have more time. I think it's going to be an eight, eight episode show. so much like, um, the penguin and peacemaker and it's going to be an HBO max. So it'll be, you know, they'll make it adult. It'll be serious. It'll be.
Grizz (59:40)
Okay
Ice Bear (59:57)
it'll have time to explore things. So yeah, I think there will be lots of other characters potentially.
Grizz (1:00:07)
interesting okay i kind of do wish that there was a good green lantern movie
Ice Bear (1:00:08)
Yeah, it'll be a good time.
Yeah. Yep. Now that being said, the Green Lantern that was in this Superman is I didn't expect to like him as much I did, but it was fun. He's really fun. Yeah. Because the thing is like my favorite Green Lantern was always Jon Stewart. Like I like the more like serious. Let me do serious stuff and things.
Grizz (1:00:37)
Yeah, same.
Ice Bear (1:00:39)
But at the same time, if you like Guy Gardner and you like Goofy, I get it. There's nothing wrong with that. And that's what the Superman one was. Like was very goofy. was a dweeby bowl cut.
Grizz (1:00:43)
Yeah, yeah.
You feel so bad
Yeah, yes, it's not bad good, you know, like I like John Stewart the most good justice league stuff But when I think of Green Lantern, I don't think of John Stewart. I do think of Guy Gardner you know what I mean like
Ice Bear (1:01:09)
What about Hal Jordan?
Like I like them all that's the thing they're all fun in their own way
Grizz (1:01:20)
pull up a list of actually green lanterns.
Ice Bear (1:01:26)
⁓ while you're doing that.
Are you, your namesake, gusher tropical force EPA? Bear fire hosing a delicious EPA? That's an A? Yep.
Grizz (1:01:42)
Hey.
Ice Bear (1:01:46)
It's very enjoyable.
Grizz (1:01:58)
got a bear sink because because this one yeah a minus but this one's undoubtedly better it has to be in a has to be in a
Ice Bear (1:02:00)
Nice. Dope. A dope.
Double
bear sync. There you go. I like it.
Grizz (1:02:18)
That was a good beat I want another one but ⁓ I only got that one
Ice Bear (1:02:21)
Same. Me too. Yep,
same. Triple bear sync.
Grizz (1:02:30)
There's so much Green Lanterns that I don't recognize.
Ice Bear (1:02:34)
It gets to the point with Green Lanterns where it's almost like the Spider-Verse where there's like pig green lanterns and there's a bunch of weird ones.
Grizz (1:02:41)
Yeah
Cause Jon Stewart, obviously Hal Jordan, remember him, Guy Gardner.
Jessica Cruz, I don't remember that one.
Ice Bear (1:02:58)
I
Grizz (1:02:59)
Daniel Young, Arisa Arab, Jong Lee.
Ice Bear (1:03:02)
I-
outside of the three that we talked about, I'm not gonna know a single one by name. Like, not one. Because I never- I never like them because I always thought like, yellow being a weakness is the stupidest fucking thing ever. It took me out of it. I was like, that is so goddamn dumb.
Grizz (1:03:25)
Yeah, that's actually fair because I was about to say, well, what about like Superman and kryptonite? But I'm like, which is also kind of, know, but at least it's a rock from his, their world.
Ice Bear (1:03:36)
Yeah, that's dumb.
But like a rare mineral versus yellow.
Grizz (1:03:43)
Yeah.
Ice Bear (1:03:45)
And then the other one that drives me nuts, and this is one of my favorite characters, like Martian Manhunter, fire. What a, that's a terrible weakness. like lighter, like any guy with a fucking big lighter can be like, yeah, no problem.
Grizz (1:03:55)
Yeah.
Yeah,
thinking thinking about The kryptonite thing one of the things that superman likes when they started bringing like the other kryptonites in I was like
Ice Bear (1:04:13)
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (1:04:17)
Granicus is come as a complete outsider. So it's like, why is there another kryptonite? I don't mean more kryptonite. It's he gets so good. He gets immunity or like he can get away to this kryptonite. But don't worry, there's another kryptonite is red.
Ice Bear (1:04:34)
It's just lazy writing, but I like them. I like all the weird ones.
Grizz (1:04:38)
It's one of those, you know one of my favorite things ever, because it was like what, early 2000s or yeah, was that Batman vs Superman? Or like Bruce Wayne starts stealing Lois Lane?
Ice Bear (1:04:55)
I don't know if I know this one.
Grizz (1:04:57)
Really,
it's like, it's, yeah, it's a cartoon movie and it's like, it's the old school, like it's, I want to say it's within the.
Ice Bear (1:04:59)
Is this a cartoon?
Grizz (1:05:08)
Let's see Batman versus... ⁓
It is like it was a whole thing like on Cartoon Network or whatever where they were. ⁓
Yeah, it was like a small series from like 97 to 2000.
Ice Bear (1:05:33)
Interesting.
Grizz (1:05:34)
Yeah. And like there, it was so good because basically it was like, there's one coming in and it was a whole thing of like, man coming into metropolis, all the stuff, all the stuff and Bruce figuring out who Superman is obviously. And so it's like hit to get the one up on him. Bruce being the fucking ladies man he is, he starts moving in on Lois Lane.
Ice Bear (1:05:36)
I totally missed it.
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (1:06:03)
And so like Clark Kent being like this motherfucker, right? And so Bruce, so Batman's running freaking double ops as Bruce Wayne and as Batman.
Ice Bear (1:06:07)
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (1:06:15)
Right? And there's a scene in there that's so fucking good is that when Superman's like, think he's trying to get the jump on Batman and he's like, kind of look and he like uses X-ray vision, but Batman lined his fucking mask with lead. Or I guess that he like, he looks at it like he like smiles at Superman. of, you know, to be like, like motherfucker, I know kind of thing. It's so good.
Ice Bear (1:06:40)
have to find this. feel like I'd really like that.
Grizz (1:06:41)
Yeah.
Yeah. And there's a scene in there too, where he finally like pisses Superman off enough with Lois that Superman goes and charges at him to try to hit him. And he charges at him super quick to hit him and he like falls to the floor. And then he pops his utility belt and pulls out a piece of kryptonite and he's like, ⁓ and he puts it back in his belt. It's so good.
Ice Bear (1:07:09)
That's fantastic. Yeah, I have to find this. That sounds amazing.
Grizz (1:07:12)
Yeah, it's an animated series and it's like of like the greatest part of like the Batman animated series and like even the Superman like the Justice League era because it's 97 to 2000 Yeah Yeah, so it's so the the Bruce Wayne of the animated series is fucking awesome Batman the Superman's good It's like the series enough in it again. It's the when you think of it animated Batman and Superman and Lois Lane stuff. It's exactly
Ice Bear (1:07:22)
Yeah, that's right. And that sweet spot. All everything back then was good.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Grizz (1:07:43)
It's exactly the ones that you think of, know.
Ice Bear (1:07:47)
I love it. All right. Let's I think that's homework for me. And that's homework for everyone. I think everyone should go out and watch that and we'll all meet back here next week and discuss it.
Grizz (1:08:01)
Batman and Superman the Animated Series.
Ice Bear (1:08:04)
Yes.
Grizz (1:08:05)
Do you work real quick before I forget, do you remember like the feature where all the superhero things are doing the feature stuff for a little bit? Like we had Batman Beyond, which is cool. Batman Beyond was actually a great sub-series. Even like when the Joker came back in Batman Beyond, he looked cool as fuck.
Ice Bear (1:08:14)
Yes. ⁓
It was really good.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, with the kind of weird almost dreads. Yeah.
Grizz (1:08:29)
Yeah So like that and then yeah that one was awesome and then
Ice Bear (1:08:30)
Nothing happened. Nothing happened. No one saw anything.
They did the X-Men, the future class. ⁓
Grizz (1:08:44)
was it X-Men Evolution? The young ones, right? Yeah. The funny thing with that one is that, ⁓ was it Quicksilver? Right?
Ice Bear (1:08:46)
Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
I think so, yes.
Grizz (1:08:56)
Right.
Richard Cox is the voice actor for it. And that's the voice actor for Inuyasha for the English Inuyasha. So every so every time I heard him talking that show, I was just here like, Kakao me. I just hear that.
Ice Bear (1:09:04)
No, that didn't put that together.
Grizz (1:09:20)
That's all I heard.
Ice Bear (1:09:23)
It's
Grizz (1:09:25)
that and then what was the spider-man one spider-man like 2098 or some shit or
Ice Bear (1:09:30)
yeah,
I forgot about Spidey. They launched him to the future as well.
Grizz (1:09:36)
That one was actually, his suit there was actually really cool too.
Ice Bear (1:09:40)
A lot of the future like costumes are really good.
Grizz (1:09:44)
I think Spider-Man probably has the coolest like alt suit stuff Yeah, like the metal Spider-Man like, you know, that suit the future one simmy out spider-man
Ice Bear (1:09:48)
Definitely.
Yeah, there's a lot of really good ones.
Grizz (1:09:59)
I think Spider-Man tasted cake on that one.
Ice Bear (1:10:01)
Good job, Spidey.
Grizz (1:10:03)
I also miss his like web armpits. You know what mean?
Ice Bear (1:10:09)
Flying squirrel Spider-Man.
Grizz (1:10:11)
Yeah, I dig that too. That was cool.
Ice Bear (1:10:13)
and
Thanks.
Grizz (1:10:20)
How are going end this on a high note? We had an A, two A- and two A+. We need end this with a bang.
Ice Bear (1:10:37)
Hear me out.
Let's try it again. No, I listened to it. Is it bad?
Grizz (1:10:42)
Did you watch the last episode?
It's funny. Maybe we can try it. Ready?
Ice Bear (1:10:56)
Okay. Three, two, one.
Grizz (1:11:07)
We suck.
